THE GRINCH celebrates sold-out premiere Greensboro engagement
View All NewsContinuing its record-setting trend of attracting capacity crowds for its Broadway engagements, the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts’ hosting of DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL drew 22,577 patrons over eight sold-out performances (Nov. 21-26).
“‘The response to our Broadway programming for the First Bank Broadway 2023-24 season and the ‘add on’ shows including of DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Greensboro Coliseum Complex and Tanger Center managing director Matt Brown. “It was a wonderful start to the holiday season and amazing to see how this classic holiday musical filled the Tanger Center during Thanksgiving week.”
In addition to bringing packed houses to the Tanger Center, DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL also made a huge impact on the Triad community. Working in conjunction with Industries for the Blind – Greensboro, a first-ever backstage ‘touch tour’ was held on Nov. 22 for visually impaired patrons. With the goal of making the magic of theater accessible for all, tour representatives and Tanger Center staff members guided blind patrons along key parts of show visuals including costumes, props and wigs, prior to them attending the show that evening.
In addition to the ‘touch tour’, the “Mean One” also made special visits to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem to interact with some of the patients and also stopped by the Thomasville Community Center for a special reading of the beloved Dr. Seuss book.
DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL has delighted more than 3 million fans on Broadway and on tour over the past 15 holiday seasons. The tour has visited more than 50 cities in North America and continues to make premieres in venues all over the country, including the Tanger Center.
