The Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts is committed to providing a first-class experience for all individuals including those who need special accommodations. Please contact us should you have further questions or needs.

*Please make arrangements with us at least 30 days prior to your performance to help ensure your needs are met.*

Tanger Center currently offers the following accomodations and services:

  • Accessible toilet facilities
  • Lower ticket and guest services counters
  • Backstage restroom facilities
  • Accessible drop-off for patrons is available on Abe Brenner Place, directly in front of the main Tanger Center entrance.

  • Curb cuts for wheelchair access to the property from City sidewalks
  • Two (2) elevators in the Phillips Hall lobby
  • Accessible seating for guests with disabilities is available in all levels of seating. Tickets may be purchased online (on Ticketmaster or Account Manager for subscribers) or by emailing TangerAMCS@greensboro-nc.gov 
  • Handicap parking spaces adjacent to Tanger Center (subject to availability). Specific handicap parking metered spaces are also located on City streets as well as defined spaces in City parking garages.

Patrons with hearing impairments may purchase tickets for Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts events by emailing TangerAMCS@greensboro-nc.gov or have the City of Greensboro TDD services (Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf) contact the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts box office. The City’s TDD number is 336.333.6930. The Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts maintains assistive listening devices for patrons who need assistance with hearing enhancement.

Patrons with mobility restrictions can email TangerAMCS@greensboro-nc.gov to purchase event tickets in accessible seating locations. Accessible seating may also be ​purchased online at www.TangerCenter.com and www.Ticketmaster.com.

Assistive Listening Devices

Headsets may be checked out from the Guest Services desk located on the main lobby level. Since our ALD devices work with most standard headphones, you are welcome to bring your own. If you are unable to bring your own headphones, we can provide a set for you.

 

The Tanger Center is T-Coil compliant. If your hearing aids or cochlear implants have a built-in telecoil, you will be able to link up to our loop sound system without the use of an additional device.

GalaPro

GalaPro opens the curtains to a universal cultural experience by delivering automated multilingual subtitles, closed captioning, dubbing, audio description, and amplification to the user's own mobile device. This system is used by many Broadway shows who have invested in the technology.  GalaPro transcription is sent your mobile device or tablet while sitting inside the theatre. It is an alternative to a sign language translator. For more information, visit GalaPro.com.

Handicap Parking

Handicap car and van accessible parking spaces are designated in the on-site parking lot near the ticket office entrance to the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. Parking lot attendants are on duty during events to help direct patrons with appropriate credentials to the defined spaces. These spaces are charged accordingly along with general public parking spaces. Van accessible spaces are also noted. All handicap parking is subject to availability.

Interpreter Services

The Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts provides interpreters for entertainment events free of charge to the hearing impaired. To arrange for an interpreter, please email Kevin.Evans@OakViewGroup.com. Interpreters should be requested one month out prior to the event to ensure proper service and scheduling. However, the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts will make every effort to solicit interpreters on short notice.

Interpreters will provide sign-language interpretations of the music or performance elements of the show to the extent provided by the production. Patrons who request interpreters may need to be seated together.

Note: For the Broadway season subscription weeks, Tanger Center currently has an American Sign Language interpreter scheduled for Sunday evening performances. 

Interpreter services are complimentary.

Audio Description

Select performances will have audio description available for those who are visually impaired. Audio description provides an ongoing oral explanation of what is happening on stage including costumes, sets, and more. The patron can wear a headset (which can be picked up at the Guest Services desk) and no other patrons will hear the headset audio.  Guest Services can provide a full list of performances upon request of shows that have Audio Description available.

 

Note: For the Broadway season subscription weeks, Tanger Center currently has a Audio Description scheduled for Saturday and Sunday matinee performances.

Elevators

Elevators are available on all three levels of the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts to assist patrons moving from one level to another. The elevators area located in the center of the Phillips Hall lobby.

Visually Impaired Seating

Patrons with visual impairments may purchase tickets in all price levels and sections subject to availability. Tickets are also sold at the STPAC ticket office on the night of events subject to availability. Service animals are permitted for the visually impaired.
